With over 40 years as a dedicated tile craftsman/artisan and hailing from a long line of artists, Lee is a committed champion of the tile artisan movement. He has always believed that tile installation is an artisan craft and has carried that conviction with him throughout his career. Lee is the first ever recipient of the NTCA Tile Setter Craftsperson of the Year Award, a member of the NTCA Artisan Team, a member of the NTCA Technical Committee, part of the expert panel for the NTCA Artisan Roundtables Live, co-founder of the Facebook group, “Tile Trade Artisan’s Guild”, and mentor to many, including his own apprentices and setters over the years. He determined years ago that there was a need for industry recognized methods for artisan tile installations and worked with the NTCA Artisan Team to develop and gain approval for pre-mounting mosaics methods and the introduction of an artisan installation chapter for the NTCA Reference Manual. Lee has been a presenter for Artisan Tile Installations at Coverings and has been featured in many industry publications and broadcasts. He is a lead trainer and co-developer of the premiere tile artisan training program, "Artisans Revolution in Tile", a.k.a. "A.R.T." sponsored by NTCA & LATICRETE. Lee is a Certified Tile Installer and strong supporter of certification and CTEF (Ceramic Tile Education Foundation). Lee is also the recipient of the NTCA Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service & Dedication to NTCA Training & Education.
